Nandan Nilekani on Governance

He was appointed non-executive chairman of Infosys on 24 August 2017 in the wake of Vishal Sikka's exit. On return he moved the centre of power back from California to Bangalore and oversaw the resignation of several Sikka-era directors including Jeffrey Lehman and John Etchemendy, re-stabilising founder control over the board.

Nilekani has served as president of NCAER and on ICRIER's board of governors, and sits on advisory boards of the World Economic Forum Foundation and the Bombay Heritage Fund — keeping one foot in policy research even during his corporate years. He also chairs EkStep Foundation, a non-profit focused on literacy and numeracy for millions of children via a tech platform.

Nilekani's board positions listed by Infosys include directorships at Avanti Finance, R Tehmurasp Investment Company, EkStep Foundation, and the Indian Institute for Human Settlements — a portfolio spanning fintech, family office, education non-profit and urban research, reflecting his post-CEO diversification beyond pure tech.
